Thanksgiving has always been one of my favorite holidays. I love the food, family time, usually mild weather, and the calm before the end of the year holiday storm. I particularly love the concept of having a day just to be grateful, just to be thankful for all that we have and the blessings in our lives. I’m always grateful for my family, our health, friends, work, and the ability to put a nice meal on our table.
Grateful for Precious Time
As I get older I seem to find more and more to be grateful for. Life moves so quickly with children and I’m trying hard not to let it slip away without my awareness of how easily the time passes and how truly precious it is. Things that may have bothered me in the past seem so inconsequential now. It’s really too bad that I couldn’t have been this grateful and less uptight when I was younger. How wonderful would it be to have your perfect jean size and attitude to go with it?
The People I Have Met on this Journey are the Best
When I started my business two years ago I had no idea just how much more my work would change my attitude, my life, and my sense of gratitude. The people I have met on this journey are the best I’ve ever known. I want to thank all of you for joining me. Whether you are a client, a reader of my blog or newsletter, a participant on any of my calls or classes, a social media friend, or a peer; I have grown and become better just from knowing you. I went into psychology and life coaching sure that I could help others, and I hope that I have. Yet I didn’t really consider the option that you all would help me. That your struggles and successes would teach me something; cause me to look inside and to grow. I’m amazed at your courage, your kindness, and your compassion. When my clients either leave my house or hang up the phone I will pinch myself and say, “How is that I am so lucky to have this person in my life?” Some days I desperately want to shout your name to the world and say, “Will you look at her? She’s amazing!”
Too Damn Hard on Yourselves
If I could complain about one thing, I would say you are all too damn hard on yourselves. How is it that you don’t see what I do and realize just how wonderful you are? If you are wondering what to give your family for the holidays, I would suggest you all start being nicer to yourselves, immediately! So, let me take this Thanksgiving to say thank you for being you and for sharing a piece of your life with me. I am grateful beyond measure. Have the healthiest and happiest of Thanksgivings.
